Taking Action: ALS Advocacy and Fundraising

Some family and friends have a desire to jump into action immediately with ALS advocacy or fundraising. Perhaps you have loved ones living at a distance, or just some “Do-ers” who would appreciate a positive focus for their energies! Here are some specific ideas.

1)     Advocacy action: local, state, and national coordinated efforts

Advocacy is an important part of our Chapter's mission. We are proud to join with our PALS to advocate for the needs of people with ALS and their families.

2)     Form a “Walk” Team

The Walk to Defeat ALS® is The ALS Association’s biggest annual event, which raises funds to sustain patient care and support cutting-edge research by the world’s best and brightest scientists. Choose a walk near you, then rally your friends, family and co-workers to form a walk team and make a difference!

3)     What better way to show your support than to consider planning your own fundraising event!

We can’t do it alone! The ALS Staff depends on community members to help spread the word about ALS and to raise funds to help support PALS (People with ALS) and their families throughout our region.  A third party event is an activity that, for the most part, is devised, planned, and managed by a community member or group.
