Out of their gourds
LUMBERTON - In most parts of the country, punkin chunking may be odd and obscure.
At the Prickett Farm in Lumberton, it has become a popular annual draw and an important tool in raising money for a good cause.
The event raised money for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) research, better known as Lou Gehrig's disease. Kay Prickett, wife of pumpkin farm owner Phil Prickett, lost her life to ALS about three years ago. The group has dedicated their hobby and collected donations the last few years in honor of their friend.
