1. How is The ALS Association funded?

Our Chapter has an operating budget of over $5 million a year, and every dollar comes from private donations. We currently receive no government funding for any of our programs or resources.

2. Who is eligible for your services?

Our services are provided at no cost to any individual living in our service area with a diagnosis of ALS by a qualified neurologist. There are no other requirements for eligibility.

3. I (or my loved one) just received a diagnosis of ALS. What do I do now?

We recommend that your first step be to contact the Chapter's Patient Services Department to register with us. Registering is free, and adds you to our mailing list to receive information about upcoming events, seminars, and resources.

4. I know someone with ALS, but I don't think they know about your Chapter. Will you contact them?

We are proud to be a resource to anyone with ALS, and we encourage you to direct anyone you know with ALS to contact us. However, medical privacy laws prohibit us from contacting a patient who has not already reached out to us.

5. I want to hold a fundraiser, but I'm not sure where to begin. Will you help me?

We are available to offer guidance for your event, including adding it to our online event calendar, promoting it in our newsletter, and providing informational materials. Click here for more information about organizing an event to benefit our Chapter.

6. I am holding a fundraiser/ selling items to benefit ALS. Will you promote it?

We would be happy to add to our calendar any events or activities that benefit our Chapter. Please call us with your information at 215-643-5434 or to request that your event be added. Unfortunately, we cannot promote any events or sales of items that benefit a specific patient or other ALS organizations.
